Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Bristol Veterinary School running until the end of May 2020. The Research Associate will be working on an exciting multidisciplinary BBSRC funded research project looking at the effect of range use on the health and welfare of laying hens. Advanced techniques will be used to monitor behaviour, activity and range use on-farm, which will be related to the two most urgent problems of hen welfare - keel bone fracture and injurious feather pecking. The research team will be headed by Prof John Tarlton, a senior researcher in the area of bone biology, skeletal health, animal behaviour and welfare (http://www.bristol.ac.uk/vetscience/people/john-f-tarlton/index.html). You will be expected to have doctoral or postdoctoral experience in related research areas. However, training will be provided in welfare assessment, use of activity and tracking technology and bone biology as appropriate.
