Head of the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology Ltd 

The Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology Ltd (YHIoT) is a collaborative partnership bringing together further and higher education experts and a number of significant employers within the region to develop and deliver higher level technical training in digital technologies, engineering and agri-tech specialisms using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The partnership includes a wealth of educational experience from York College, Askham Bryan College, Bishop Burton College, Craven College, East Riding College, Selby College and Scarborough TEC (part of the TEC Partnership formerly known as the Grimsby Institute Group) and academic research expertise from the University of Hull and York St John University. Working closely with Skipton Building Society, ENGIE Fabricom, ViSR, CATCH and others, the YHIoT will help young people in the region to develop essential career-building skills that matches growth opportunities and skills gaps in the local economy.

The Role

This new role offers a unique and exciting opportunity for a results driven individual with a proven record of developing collaborative relationships to join our recently formed Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology to manage the running of the company, act as liaison between partners and the Department for Education, provide appropriate support to partners and collate reports on KPIs.  

As Head of the YHIoT you will be responsible for developing trust-based relationships with all partners and key stakeholders in order to maintain a collaborative approach and secure the success of the partnership.  As this is a new company, you will be required to establish appropriate Governance arrangements and implement effective communication structures. A key responsibility is to implement and manage efficient capital payment arrangements and ensure compliance with Department for Education contractual requirements. 

The Person

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and experience of developing trust-based relationships with senior leaders, directors and key stakeholders, ideally across a range of organisations. You will also have a track record of leading improvements and new developments, budget management experience the ability to effectively manage conflicting deadlines. With your excellent communication skills and commitment to team working, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to persuade others, supportively manage tension and work cooperatively with partners, employers and staff across a range of organisations to successfully achieve deadlines. You must be proactive, adaptable and able to work independently using effective problem solving skills, initiative and excellent organisation skills. Proficiency in a range of IT packages, data collation and report writing are essential for ensuring accurate monitoring of KPIs across all delivery partners, preparing appropriate reports for the Board of Directors and achieving compliance with contractual requirements. The role involves travel to partner organisations across the region so a full clean driving licence is also essential.
