Position Overview

New Zealand's premier food technology university is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to help develop tomorrow's Food Technology and Engineering graduates.

This position includes teaching, student supervision and research based at the University's Palmerston North campus with some teaching at our Albany campus and off-shore.

The candidate will have specific expertise and experience in the following:

  • Food innovation and strategic product development
  • Design thinking and approaches to successfully develop and launch new products
  • Ability to undertake teaching at our Albany campus (Auckland) and in Singapore
  • Understanding of the New Zealand Food technology sector
  • Prior relevant industry, teaching and research experience

The candidate should be up to date with the latest innovation management methods and have a record of accomplishment guiding teams through them, as they will be responsible for coaching teams from problem identification through to product launch.

Your area of research, fundamental or applied, will focus on food industries important for New Zealand's economic growth. In addition to strong technical abilities in product development.

The suitable candidate will have a natural ability to interact with students, have a passion for teaching and a strong focus in developing research projects. An outgoing and motivating personality is essential, together with excellent communication skills. You will need to fit into a passionate, hard-working team. A postgraduate qualification in food technology or product development is desirable with an option to further your career.
