We are recruiting a Lecturer in Television Studies.
Film and Television Studies at Lincoln combines theoretical enquiry with practical engagement in order to enhance critical understanding as well as to offer opportunities for creative development. It is characterised by a critical engagement with canon building, with a particular concern for what and who are left out. Staff research explores the mainstream and its disruptions, representations of the past and subversive modes and platforms of cinematic storytelling. The Media Archive for Central England (MACE), situated on the Brayford Campus, is embedded in the School’s teaching and research. Core modules (e.g. Women and the Movies, Analysing Film and TV as Industries) and an innovative suite of options (e.g. Art Cinemas, Queer Film and TV, Exploitation Cinema) encourage students to ask questions about power, marginal practice and minority identities.
We are looking for an ambitious early career academic in Television Studies with an emerging record of publications and expertise in feminism, critical race theory, disability studies and/or queer perspectives in British, American or other (trans)national contexts of television. The post-holder will develop a core Television Studies module, contribute to curriculum development, have ideas for the integration of the MACE collection into their teaching and research, and generate internationally recognized outputs to be included in the School’s REF submission. The post-holder will have or ensure achievement of HE teaching qualification/accreditation [e.g. with HEA] during the probationary period.

The Media Archive for Central England (MACE) is the specialist and regional public film archive for the East and West Midlands, caring for a historically significant collection of over 70,000 moving image records of the region. Based on the Brayford Pool Campus since 2011, MACE enjoys a unique relationship with the University of Lincoln where it is embedded in teaching and research.
