The HDR Support Administrator provides a high level of service to all current and prospective postgraduate research students, and other stakeholders. This position ensures that HDR student administration is carried out accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner, with a focus on excellent customer service. This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth transition from application, enrolment through to graduation

About the roles

  • Higher Degree Research Support Administrator
  • 14 month fixed-term contract till Feb 2021
  • $74,338- $84,116 + 9.5% superannuation

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Coordinate and support all aspects of HDR processes and ensure outputs align with the goals and objectives of the Research Support Team and Faculty strategic plans
  • Coordinate the assessment of local and international HDR applications
  • Manage HDR student progression through candidature including inquiry, application, admission, enrolment, variation to candidature, co-ordination of review panels, thesis submission and HDR completion
  • Support the Faculty Higher Degree Committee in liaison with the Graduate Research School
  • Ensure a high-quality service is provided to HDR students and prospective and current student queries and problems are managed and resolved efficiently and effectively
  • Maintain a database of students, their supervisors, review panel members and review panel schedule
  •  Generate reports, as required by the Faculty Research Support Manager, on Faculty performance with respect to HDR students
  • Work to develop and maintain positive relationships with members of the Research Support team, HDR students, and other stakeholders
  • Participate in discussions within the Research Support team to identify ways to support the research activities of the Faculty
  • Establish and maintain familiarity with University and Faculty postgraduate award schemes and the most commonly accessed externally funded postgraduate scholarships in order to be able to provide advice and assistance to research students and staff, or refer them to appropriate specialists for advice
  • Maintain effective and efficient systems and processes relating to the administration of recruitment and admissions
