For over 20 years it has been a leader in its field, preparing the next generation of global professionals to succeed at university and in their careers. Monash College is owned by Monash University, Australia's largest international university. The College plays a key role in the delivery of the University's global engagement, providing a range of services and academic programs that align with the high-quality standards of the University and support the successful transition of students to University study. Some programs are tailored to industry, government and business, and through a network of industry connections, provide opportunities for work experience and professional placement initiatives. Through the strength of these partnerships, Monash College provides students with world-standard programs and a truly global approach.

Monash University Foundation Year is a pre-university generalist academic program for international students who aspire to study at Monash University. Based at the Melbourne City campus, the program is developed in conjunction with Monash academics and offers guaranteed entry upon achieving the required entry score to first year of all ten Monash University faculties.

Monash College will be relocating to a state-of-the-art designed campus in Docklands in 2021, consolidating its campuses to build a collaborative professional culture and an environment where ‘teaching and learning’ are on display, enhancing student-centric learning.

About the position

Reporting to the Director Foundation Year, the Head of Studies (Maths, Science, ICT) will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of student-centred, outstanding education programs and services. The Head of Studies will lead a team of learning and teaching teams to implement a quality-led curriculum and a range of support services and programs that enhance students’ experience from an academic and well-being perspective, as they transition to University study. The Head of Studies (Maths, Science, ICT) also works closely and collaboratively with peers from other disciplines and programs to identify learning and teaching needs and professional learning opportunities, both college wide, and for individual teams and teachers. Key to the success in this role is the ability to build effective and collaborative relationships and a mindset of wanting to contribute more broadly to Monash College above and beyond your position description. The role will blend a need for strategic foresight and drive for continuous improvement alongside a need to be close enough to the operations that enables a rapid response to day to day issues when they arise.

The person

To be considered you will possess a relevant tertiary degree and Post-Graduate qualification and ideally have teaching experience in a discipline relevant to this position. You will have a good working knowledge and understanding of some of the issues and challenges of transition education that face International Students as well as a track record of leading initiatives that have resulted in operational improvements in a similar setting. You’ll be self-motivated, confident in your skills, with a sense of real purpose and a commitment to building best practice in transition education. As a leader you’ll be able to engage and inspire your team, building a culture committed to excellence, supporting and developing them to challenge the status quo and to innovate and create. Naturally, your values will align to those of Monash College, along with a personal style that is collaborative, respectful and inclusive, being prepared to roll up your sleeves when required. There has never been a been a better time to join Monash College, a leader in transition education, as it experiences high demand for its services and programs and relocation plans to a central state of the art campus in Docklands in 2021. If you have a passion for education, enjoy problem-solving in a fast-paced environment, working with ambiguity, and leading a team committed to excellence then we would like to hear from you.
