The School of Humanities and Social Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in History to this scholarly cover (8 months) post.

History at LJMU is a well-established subject with a strong research profile and presently ranked ninth nationally in the Guardian University League Tables 2020. It comprises sixteen members of staff teaching a broad range of modules from the eighteenth century onwards and covering the United Kingdom; Europe, notably the political and social history of twentieth-century France, Germany 1933 – 1945, the social and cultural history of the Soviet Union; the Middle East; Africa; the USA; and Asia. Details of the current research interests in History at LJMU can be found at History Research Group.

We are seeking to appoint a lecturer able to teach modern Russian/Soviet Union history at undergraduate level, as well as contributing to other modules relating more broadly to the History programme. You should have completed a PhD in the discipline, and have teaching experience at undergraduate level.

Informal enquires may be made to the Subject Leader for History, Dr David Clampin, email: or telephone: 0151 231 5173.

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil his or her potential.
