Centre for Cancer Prevention

Applications are invited for a Statistician to support research projects within the Centre for Cancer Prevention. The Centre is at the forefront of research internationally into the prevention and control of cancer. We have particularly active programmes of research studying breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer prevention, cancer screening and statistical methods for clinical trials and epidemiology.

While the post-holder will have the opportunity to be involved with other activities of the Centre, the main duties of the role will be to develop methodology and assist in data analysis of projects relating to self-sampling for cervical screening and biomarkers in colorectal adenomas for subsequent bowel cancer.

Applicants must have MSc or PhD in Statistics or related quantitative field and experience of working with large data sets. Candidates will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a working knowledge of statistical, mathematical and database packages, in particular Stata. Knowledge and experience in bioinformatics would be a particular advantage.

This post is full-time until 31 March 2020, with the possibility of a three year extension (depending on funding). The starting salary will be in the range £38,084 - £41,299 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefits pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Please note that it will not be possible for QMUL to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for successful candidates. Successful candidates will therefore need to be eligible to work in the UK or have limited leave to remain in the UK and associated right to work for the duration of their employment with QMUL, in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. The Centre for Cancer Prevention requires applicants to provide all certificates at interview to confirm their qualifications (as specified in the Job Description).
