Initial fixed term 18 month contract, Full Time

Applications are invited for the post of Systems Officer in the Student Administration Department.

A series of transformational IT initiatives are currently underway and the Banner Self Service project is bringing with it new ways of working and a flexible development framework for meeting the current and future needs of our student and staff facing services. Acting both as a project resource and in supporting business as usual activity, the Systems Officer will work on the Banner Self Service project whilst assisting colleagues in providing support and managing cyclical activity. The role is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to gain a complete understanding of the whole student cycle and the services that underpin it.

The role will report to the Systems Manager and will sit both within the project team and the Student Administrations Department. Working within the project team, with colleagues in Student Administration and the IT Student Administration Systems team the role will act as a bridge between service delivery, functional requirements and technical development. 

You will combine technical aptitude with a good working knowledge of the annual student cycle within a Higher Education context. You will be highly computer literate having end user experience of IT student (or customer) record systems or having studied the management, maintenance and development of student (or customer) record systems. Experience of supporting projects, IT based coursework or IT development initiatives would be advantageous. You will be a strong communicator able to deliver training to users and present to colleagues at all levels within the organisation. Your analytical skills will enable you to identify and effectively manage support queries, issues and problems promptly and accurately.

This is a fixed term post for 18 months funded by project capital. It is anticipated, though not guaranteed that additional funding be will made available to extend the post and/or create a permanent equivalent.
