Assistant Research Officer in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 498608) (to commerce as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above, preferably in Microbiology, Biological Science or related disciplines, with at least 6 years’ hands-on and solid laboratory work experience in virus culture and animal handling in biosafety level 2 and 3 laboratory. They should have good interpersonal and organizational skills, and proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese. They should also be responsible, self-motivated and able to work independently. ​The appointee will manage laboratory safety in BSL-2 laboratory; design, coordinate and conduct various research experiments; maintain cell and virus stocks; and order and maintain supplies and equipment inventories for the laboratory. He/She will also provide virus culture and animal handling training in BSL-2 and 3 laboratory to staff and students, and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
