The Schwab Learning Center (SLC) is proud to be part of Student Affairs, which advances student development and learning; fosters community engagement; promotes diversity, inclusion and respect; and empowers students to thrive. This position reports to the Associate Director, SLC.

Your Responsibilities:

You will provide 1-1 support to students with learner variability based on specific recommendations of the Associate Director, SLC. This position is critical to the mission of the SLC which works to promote the fostering of expert learners who are prepared for the 21st century workforce.

  • Work with SLC students in areas related to how people think and prepare them for success across the lifespan. Provide recommendations for school, work, and home through tech tools, self-awareness of cognition, wellness and self-efficacy, and how to access academic resources.
  • Function as the case manager for up to sixty SLC students and ensure proper documentation of interaction between students and the SLC.
  • Work with the SLC managers to learn and advance your skills on how people learn and the relationship between the environment and cognition
  • Collect and provide data on all student interactions for reporting purposes.
  • Demonstrate your interpersonal and strong communication skills by proactively learning about the SLC Director’s priorities and professionally representing them to various leaders across the department and University.  

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience in learner variability as part of a hospital case management program, clinic for neurodiverse individuals or school learning support program
  • Excellent awareness of how people learn through cognitive behavioral science and neuroscience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superb organizational and attention to detail
  • A large repertoire of ways to support individuals who are neurodiverse beyond standard learning strategies, study skills and coaching techniques
  • Exceptional student service and experience preparing students for school to work transitions

In addition, our preferred requirements include:

  • Degree in learning Sciences, Special Education, Instructional Technology
  • A Master’s degree
  • Certificate in Educational Therapy
  • Experience teaching young adults or college students how to use assistive technology
  • Experience working 1-1 with college students who are neurodiverse and demonstrate learner variability 
  • General awareness of Universal Design for Learning to foster expert learning across a variety of academic domains.
