About the opportunity 

The Sydney School of Veterinary Science (SSVS) is ranked 1st in the Southern Hemisphere and 9th in the world in the QS World University Subject Rankings 2019, and rated 5/5 for research in the Australian Government’s 2015 Excellence in Research for Australia rankings.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding senior academic to the role of Professor of Small Animal Medicine. This position is based at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Sydney (UVTHS), which is located on the Camperdown Campus. The UVTHS offers world-class facilities and provides an ideal environment for clinical service, research and teaching. SSVS is primarily responsible for training Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students, residents and research postgraduate students.

The successful applicant must be a leading authority within their discipline and have an international reputation for excellence. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the leadership and strategic direction within the UVTHS, School, Faculty and wider University by providing collegial support and mentorship, as well as teaching, research and clinical leadership. It is essential that the successful applicant strive to maintain and grow a culture of collaboration and excellence by guiding academic staff, professional staff and students towards success. The successful applicant will also be expected to expand their reputation by actively contributing to research and scholarship, academic debate, policy development and innovation within the School, Faculty, University and the broader community.

The successful applicant must have a wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders, that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the School, Faculty and University.

Term and remuneration

The successful applicant will be offered a full-time continuing position, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

4.         Sydney Conservatorium of Music Campus. In Macquarie Street, central Sydney.

5.         Rozelle Campus. Home to Sydney College of the Arts.

6.         Surry Hills Campus. Home to the Faculty of Dentistry.
