Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Business Analytics

  • Salary Package: Lecturer, Level B ($103,914 - $122,947), Senior Lecturer, Level C ($126,879 - $145,912), Associate Professor, Level D ($152,378 – $167,607), Professor Level E ($186,809 – $195,640) plus 17% employer’s superannuation, annual leave loading and the opportunity for a salary loading

The Roles

We seek highly qualified academics with scholarly expertise in the area of business analytics. Those appointed to these roles will pursue a research agenda related to business analytics and have an opportunity to teach in this exciting new area of study.

To be successful in the roles you will make a strong contribution to research and to teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You may also proactively contribute to the efforts of the Department to enhance its reputation with external audiences.

In the Department of Actuarial Studies and Business Analytics, we have a large group of qualified staff who work to produce world class research which is at the forefront of the discipline. We have expertise in a range of endeavours from applied through to the more theoretical. Staff are given wonderful support for their research endeavour through a generous program of financial assistance. Being a member of a large department, you will have a very fair teaching load that enables you to teach the courses you do teach to the best of your ability and to find the time needed to engage fully with your research.

Selection Criteria

Level B – Lecturer

  • A PhD (or near completion of a PhD) in business analytics or a related field;
  • Potential to develop a record of published research in business analytics or a related field;
  • A research agenda which provides scope for attracting funds from external funding bodies;
  • Engagement, or a plan for engagement, with the wider community in order to further enhance teaching and or research outcomes;
  • Evidence of an interest to develop skills in teaching in business analytics;
  • An ability to develop new approaches to teaching in business analytics including online and digital approaches to the delivery of coursework programs;
  • An ability and enthusiasm to work as a team player in the completion of administrative tasks related to the work of the Department.

Level C – Senior Lecturer

  • A PhD in business analytics or a related field;
  • A strong record of research in business analytics or a related field;
  • A research agenda which provides scope for attracting funds from external funding bodies;
  • Engagement, or a plan for engagement, with the wider community in order to further enhance teaching and or research outcomes;
  • A record of high-quality teaching in business analytics;
  • An ability to develop new approaches to teaching in business analytics including online and digital approaches to the delivery of coursework programs;
  • Evidence of work as a team player in the completion of administrative tasks related to the delivery of the business analytics programs and research endeavour.

Level D – Associate Professor

  • A PhD in business analytics or a related field;
  • A very strong track record of research in business analytics or a related field with a developing international reputation;
  • Demonstrated ability to attract funds to support research;
  • A demonstrated record of engagement with the wider community in order to derive benefits for teaching and/or research outcomes;
  • A record of high-quality teaching in business analytics;
  • Evidence of leadership in course development and/or teaching innovation in business analytics;
  • Experience with online or alternative modes of delivery of teaching;
  • Capacity to take on a leadership role in the Department - for example as program director or as a research director;
  • Capacity to mentor colleagues, higher degree research students and coursework program students in business analytics and related fields.

Level E – Professor

  • A PhD in business analytics or a related field;
  • An excellent track record of research in business analytics or a related field with a distinguished international reputation;
  • Demonstrated ability to attract funds to support research;
  • A demonstrated record of engagement with the wider community in order to derive benefits for teaching and/or research outcomes;
  • A record of high-quality teaching in business analytics;
  • Experience with online or alternative modes of delivery of teaching;
  • An excellent record of leadership in course development and/or teaching innovation in business analytics;
  • Evidence of leadership in the delivery of analytical programs and/or analytical research;
  • Capacity to mentor colleagues, higher degree research students and coursework program students in analytical studies and related fields.
