Overview:

Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to undertake research investigations in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) in order to realise the objectives and development of the research programme. The research will be based in the Centre for Cancer and Inflammation, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

The focus of our research is the tumour microenvironment and we are particularly interested in understanding the composition and function of the tumour extracellular matrix in immunosuppression. Cancer types we focus on include ovarian and breast cancers. The lab is split across three synergistic multidisciplinary themes, analysis (proteomics and glycomics combined with machine learning informatics), functional studies (engineered 3D in vitro tumour models), and application (antibody development). Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant biological or biochemical subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological, or biochemical subject. Significant research laboratory experience in tumour immunity is essential. Experience in the field of matrix biology and appropriate publication records would be an advantage. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is a full time, fixed term position for three years. Starting salary will be £34,220 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires applicants to provide all certificates at interview to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
