London College of Communication, a college of the University of Arts London, is a pioneering world leader in creative communications education.

We work at the cutting edge of new thinking and development to prepare our students for successful careers in the creative industries of the future.

We are driving forward an ambitious research agenda and a major step towards this will be the appointment of a Professor in each of the Colleges Schools. We are now inviting applications from outstanding candidates for appointment to the new position of Professor in Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability within our Design School. The Design School is a dynamic and inclusive multidisciplinary community of internationally recognised educators, researchers and practitioners, with courses in branding and design innovation, graphic design communication and interaction design and visual communication.

Sustainability and Social Innovation are key research and knowledge exchange themes in the Design School and together staff, students and partners are working towards a more equitable and sustainable society.

As our new Professor, you will lead and support colleagues in developing research and knowledge exchange outcomes in relation to environmental and social sustainability, social innovation and social design within the School and wider College.  You will plan and initiate the writing of external funding bids and have a record of acquiring significant external funding in the field of social innovation and sustainability. In addition, professors will be present and active within the Design School and contribute to teaching as appropriate.

Professorial candidates will be expected to have a substantive record of excellence and innovation in academic achievement and/or strategic academic leadership as demonstrated by your scholarly activity and success in bid writing. Above all, the role requires someone with a deep commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration across the School and beyond.
