A three-year British Heart Foundation funded Research Associate position is available at the department of Translational Health Sciences of the University of Bristol, in Dr Mark Bond’s group to study the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac fibrosis. The project seeks to characterise the role of specific actin-sensitive transcription factors and their co-factors (namely MKL-SRF and YAP/TAZ-TEAD) in the regulation of cardiac fibroblast behaviour and development of cardiac fibrosis.

We are seeking a hard-working enthusiastic individual with at least a PhD and with previous research experience in the fields of cell signalling and cardiovascular cell biology. You will have some expertise in a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including primary cell culture, quantitative RT-PCR, western blotting, gene transfer, siRNA, cell proliferation and migration assays. Experience in microarray analysis/bioinformatics and in vivo experimentation would be a distinct advantage. You will be expected to become an active member of the research team and take responsibility for experimental design, data analysis and driving this project forward.
