The School for Policy Studies is seeking to appoint either a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to expand and complement our current excellent teaching, research and impact activities in the area of child welfare, global inequalities, and education. The appointee will join a dynamic, ambitious and collegial School that pushes forward intellectual debates and real-world solutions to a range of policy and social dilemmas within an interdisciplinary environment.

The post is located on Pathway One and will be appointed at either Profile Level b (Lecturer, grade J), Profile Level c (Lecturer, grade K) or Profile Level d (Senior Lecturer, grade L) of the University’s Academic Pathways depending on relevant experience, skills and knowledge of the successful candidate.

The School has an exceptional reputation for teaching, research and public engagement. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) 80% of research in social work and social policy was rated world-leading or internationally excellent. In the QS World Rankings we are consistently ranked in the top 30 worldwide and top ten in the UK. Our undergraduate (UG) programmes are top rated in national league tables. The appointees will contribute to UG and postgraduate teaching and will be encouraged to develop and engage with appropriate innovation and curriculum development.

You should have research expertise in child welfare combined with a focus on inequalities and/or education in a global context. You should have publications judged to be 3* or 4* quality by REF and eligible for inclusion in REF2021; ability to gain external research funding as PI or Co-I; and experience of delivering and running high quality lectures and seminars in a higher education context. A completed PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline by the post start date is essential.

The posts are open ended and available from 3 January 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is full time, however the School is open to requests for working part time/job share.

The closing date for applications is midnight on 30th September 2019.

The final selection process is expected to be held on the 16th and/or 17th October 2019.
