The Department of English at Princeton University is seeking an assistant professor in 18th Century Global and/or Indigenous Literary Studies. We are looking for a junior scholar whose work focuses on global and/or indigenous writing in the long eighteenth-century period, including but not limited to England, North America, Central and South America, and the larger Atlantic and/or Pacific Worlds. Of special interest are scholars working in the fields of indigenous studies and/or settler colonial studies whose work disrupts and complicates established boundaries, regions and historical narratives, especially through critical engagement with indigenous cultures and frameworks. Moreover, we welcome applications from scholars who can expand the field of literary studies to include knowledges and art forms that have been occluded in histories of 18th century literature. Interdisciplinary scholars are welcome, with possibilities for joint appointment in relevant Departments and Programs.
