As the Senior Lecturer: Journalism, you will be responsible for the development, teaching and coordination of courses within the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs and contributing to the School’s research agenda. Reporting directly to the Head of School: Creative Industries, you will also work closely with Course Coordinators, professional and academic staff across the University along with students, external organisations and industry bodies.

You will also get an opportunity to undertake the role of Program Director: Bachelor of Journalism and Professional Writing, in which you will play a leading role in promoting and representing the program within and external to the University and for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with external stakeholders and communities.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this exciting career opportunity, you will have a PhD qualification aligned with Journalism and experience carrying out teaching activities in a wide range of related courses, which are academically relevant and reflect pedagogical, student and professional needs and standards. You will also come with experience as a mainstream broadcast journalism practitioner, with experience in both radio and television news and/or current affairs including international broadcasting/journalism experience.  

To be successful in this position, you will enhance the research profile of the School by conducting research or scholarly activity, independently or as a member of a team. Your efforts will result in securing competitive funding, publications in refereed journals and experience supervising research students to timely completion.
