Executive Director – Human Resources & Organisational Development

The University is at an exciting time of its development. Our staff are highly engaged, have been at the heart of our success over a very long period. Unquestionably, their personal commitment to all of our students, along with their drive, flexibility, personal and team ownership has been key to the high regard in which the University is held.

Curriculum offer is continually innovating and changing, employer and industry demand for skills continually evolving, digital technologies are being further embedded into teaching & learning and support services. Government and regulatory changes will also radically change the face of Further and Higher Education, apprenticeships, modes and geography of delivery and the need to engage even more extensively with business and industry, delivering globally and not just at local, regional and national level. An important period of change is upon the sector and the University must adapt accordingly.

It is key to the above exciting changes for our human resources to be aligned to these new challenges. Our staff have need supported in ensuring of their talent, skills and knowledge fit a model that takes account of the changes ahead. The health and wellbeing of our staff must continue to be supported and is also of key importance to the University.

There will inevitably be a requirement to manage wide ranging change in a supported but ‘fleet of foot’ way to make certain that the university is aligned in good time to deliver a top class student experience and high quality offer that is rightly expected.

This role on the University Executive Management Team will take strategic responsibility for an overall review of the University’s human resources strategy and operational approaches. You will have significant change management experience in the design and delivery of flexible, exciting and innovative HR strategy and operational HR leadership, possessing strong organisational design experience, communication, consultation and negotiating skills.

You should be fully committed to developing a diverse and inclusive workforce, integrating equality and inclusivity into all of our practices. Your track record of managing transformational change through wide-ranging employee development programmes needs to confidently evidenced.

This is not an operational HR post. Whilst understanding of policy, procedure, legislation and HR best employment practice are key attributes and important factors in assessing your suitability for managing the HR team, more important is your ability to strategically support and lead senior colleagues through a prolonged period of transformational organisational change, ensuring strong engagement with staff in delivering the change needed through modern and innovative approaches.

All posts are part of the University Executive Management Team.
