Pro Vice-Chancellor (External Relations)

So as to strategically inform and further develop the UCB brand and offer to the widest possible audience, you will assume strategic ‘outward facing’ responsibility for promoting and driving all of the university’s business and industry liaison. This will include the development and delivery of a robust and innovative international growth and partnerships strategy, and you should have significant experience of the international aspects of the HE sector. You will have line management responsibility for University marketing, recruitment and Admissions, student employability and responding to Government and regulatory policy. Your strategy for growth should be based around a strong and regular engagement with an extensive range of strategic partners locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, including a recently strengthened Apprenticeships offer with ambitions to grow degree level apprenticeships significantly. The University, although holding Taught Degree Awarding Powers in its own right, is very proud to be a long-standing accredited partner of the University of Birmingham and you will manage and further develop that very special and successful collaboration in alignment with the strategic direction of our Board.

You will work with Executive and Senior colleagues across the University’s academic schools and support services to further improve and widely develop links which enhance the University’s presence. These should be purposeful partnerships which ensure a growing business model and that a first class student experience is being created through a whole range of new collaborations.

You will be a confident, credible, engaging ‘hands-on’ leader  with a commercial focus who commands respect and has the presence to represent the University at all levels across a wide spectrum of business, partnerships and sector representative bodies. You will have a very strong strategic and operational understanding of changing strategies within Further & Higher Education, apprenticeships and international student recruitment, coupled with an astute grasp of developing government and regulatory policy as it impacts on these areas. At ease with broadening existing and further developing new business links and partnerships across a very wide portfolio of strategic responsibility is something you will be able to clearly demonstrate, with recent and significant successes illustrated through major and sustained business impact.
