Position overview

The ANU Institute for Space brings together researchers from the myriad disciplines with a stake in the space industry. Partners include scientists, engineers, policy researchers, legal specialists and business experts, along with the world-class R&D capabilities at Mount Stromlo’s Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre.

ANU InSpace is seeking an enthusiastic Chief Operations Officer (COO) to oversee the strategic management of ANU InSpace. As the COO you will lead business improvements and program delivery to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

You will work with a considerable degree of autonomy, and will actively contribute to the wider University’s engagement with the Australian space industry and international space sector. You will have a proven track record of successful collaborations with multi-disciplinary project teams and the management of key external industry and government partnerships. As the COO you will have a proven track record of attracting and retaining external funding and investment, managing the Institute’s financial commitments, and monitoring program performance against contractual commitments.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a proven history of leadership, engagement, and achievement in a similar role. You will have expertise in high level planning, financial, human resource and project management, coupled with outstanding analytical, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work as part of an executive team in a strategic planning and operational management capacity.
