Agrinatura European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) Project Portfolio Finance Officer Post

The Natural Resources Institute (NRI) ( is an internationally renowned multi-disciplinary centre of the University of Greenwich that undertakes research, consultancy and training to support sustainable development, food security, economic growth and poverty reduction in developing countries. We are a member of AGRINATURA ( a grouping of European universities and research organizations with a common interest in supporting agricultural development in a sustainable manner in order to improve people’s lives.

The EEIG is looking for a highly motivated individual on a part-time basis (0.5 FTE) who is capable of undertaking complex administrative and financial tasks in support of its work programmes and those of the AGRINATURA Secretariat. The successful candidate(s) will be hosted at NRI and join a team of dedicated, professional administrators within NRI ensuring successful service delivery of research, consultancy and capacity building projects with a combined annual turnover in excess £12 million.  The Project Portfolio Finance Officer will provide support during development and acquisition, implementation, and follow-up of Agrinatura EEIG projects. They will also maintain financial oversight of Agrinatura EEIG’s project portfolio and efficient financial management of the Agrinatura EEIG Secretariat.

On a daily basis, you will perform financial administration/management tasks and work closely with the Project Portfolio Finance Officer to ensure effective delivery of projects that are focused primarily overseas. As such the job demands a high level of understanding of procedures and practices involved with overseas work including understanding client and partner relations, subcontracting procedures and financial administration of donor funded research grants.  You will be familiar with financial reporting requirements of large donor organisations and be responsible for client invoicing, financial record keeping, contributing to audit-file preparation and purchase of goods and services that allow successful project execution.  You will work as part of an administration team in addition to working independently across the Institute in a flexible, demand driven service provision role.  

You will have proven experience in a broad range of administrative and financial procedures of a busy deadline-driven office environment preferably within the development arena.

The post is initially a 12-month fixed term post with possibility of becoming open ended with a review clause based on project funding.
