  • PhD Opportunity (with stipend), magnetic materials,  Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM)

The opportunity

The Australian Institute for Innovative Materials(AIIM) is the flagship research institute at the University of Wollongong with a focus on multidisciplinary materials science fundamental and applied research. The Australian Research Council has awarded a Discovery Project to develop novel magnetic materials with unique skyrmion spin structure for the applications in the information storage of next generation. A PhD Scholarship opportunity arises, as part of this Discovery Project, with a focus on the design, fabrication and characterization of such unique materials. The outcomes will be novel magnetic skyrmion materials which can work at room temperature with potential for future applications in spintronic devices. The PhD candidate will be supervised by Prof. Zhenxiang Cheng, see profile https://scholars.uow.edu.au/display/zhenxiang_cheng

The research will be undertaken, on a full time basis, at the AIIM facility at the Innovation Campus in Wollongong, New South Wales. https://aiim.uow.edu.au/index.html
