About the Job

The Future Industries Institute (FII) was established with a new research culture in mind – one deeply engaged with industry, with the end goal of building economic growth through relevant innovation and industry partnership. The Institute represents UniSA’s largest single investment in research and builds on the significant capability, infrastructure and reputation of the University’s existing research strengths and substantial research infrastructure.

As a Research Associate within the Future Industries Institute Biomedical Engineering Group, you will contribute to research activities funded by the NHMRC aimed at the development and clinical trialling of a cancer diagnostic technology currently being commercialised by the industry partner Ferronova. Specifically, the full-time position will be responsible for leading the preclinical and clinical testing of the technology; and the part-time position will be responsible for developing and validating nanoparticulate imaging contrast agents.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for these exciting research opportunities, you will have a PhD degree in Biotechnology or related field along with specific research experience relevant to cancer diagnostics.

To be considered for the full-time position you will have experience in designing and conducting imaging studies in preclinical models, including with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Positron Emission Tomography (PET). You will also have experience in the design and testing of imaging molecular contrast agents.

To be considered for the second part-time 0.8FTE position you will have experience in the synthesis/characterisation of nanoparticulate contrast agents and in their biological evaluation along with experience in cancer diagnostic technology.

For both these opportunities, you will have a record of peer reviewed publications and conference presentations along with project management skills to ensure research milestones are met.
