Overview:

Biological Services Unit

Applications are invited for a full-time experienced facility manager with the skills to manage a busy and demanding Biological Service unit and associated areas.

The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day management and to provide the services required to support current and future research.

Applicants must have extensive experience in managing a biological service facility including administration of budgets and managing a team of technical staff to provide an effective service to support research.

Applicants must possess:

BSc, IAT Fellowship (or equivalent) in Laboratory Animal Science and hold a Home Office personal licence,

Highly developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build effective working relationships and lead a team of BSU staff,

Extensive knowledge of A (SP) Act 1986 and other relevant legislation e.g. health and safety is essential. Although not essential experience of transgenic breeding colonies would be an advantage.

The post is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment. Starting salary will be in the range of £47,325-52,833 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
