  • Full-time, 17 month fixed-term contract. Base salary: $93k-$102kp.a. (HEO 7) plus annual leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation.  

About the opportunity 

You will be onboarded to develop and manage a comprehensive information management system in conjunction with maintaining all data collected across a range of research projects in the ForeFront research program on ageing and neurodegeneration. The role will also assist with enabling bioinformatics and statistical analyses.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science with at least 5 years’ experience in programming (other research or scientific degrees desirable)
  • Usage and understanding of the following technologies: NET Core, Ruby on Rails (MVC), HTML5/CSS3, Javascript and related frameworks (e.g. Ember or Angular), C#, PHP, Filemaker, SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.

About us

The Brain and Mind Centre (BMC) at the University of Sydney was established to integrate clinical and basic neurosciences research in Australia. Committed to discovery, innovative and integrative research strategies, clinical product development and the application of research initiatives; the BMC directly benefits people whose lives have been affected by psychiatric and neurological illness.

The BMC has a new initiative called ForeFront Research on Ageing and Neurodegeneration, which currently brings together ten senior clinical and basic science researchers committed to identifying the earlier detection of and treatments for neurodegenerative diseases, and to understanding their underlying disease mechanisms. This initiative spans across the Faculty of Science (School of Psychology) and Faculty of Medicine (School of Medicine) and is supported by a number of large grants (including, NHMRC Program, NHMRC Dementia Team Research Initiative, SREI 2020).

Within this context, this position will be attached to the School of Psychology to work across a number of projects spanning clinical, neuroimaging, biological, genetics and neuropathological disciplines. The core duty of this position will be to provide specialist IT app development enabling the deployment of clinical tools and to work towards an integrated system that will enable data sharing and support across projects.
