At Griffith University we believe in, strive for and celebrate the remarkable.
We are known for our high impact research, outstanding student experience, our commitment to social justice and our welcoming environment. We rank in the top 2% of universities worldwide and we're proud of our remarkable achievements, of our people and their passion for making a positive difference. Together we contribute to the development of knowledge and learning in an attractive environment which values excellence, equity, diversity, and innovation.
The Division of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) (DVCR) works closely with the Vice Chancellor in guiding the University to achieve its strategic objectives. One of the key organisational units within the DVCR's division is the Office for Research, which provides research services and research quality development and support, working closely with academic colleagues and senior managers to address strategic priorities in research. The Office for Research also acts as the contact point between the University's researchers and a range of research funding agencies and entities.
Reporting to the DVCR, an exciting career opportunity now exists for an outstanding candidate in the role of Director for the Office of Research. This senior leadership role works in close collaboration with the DVCR, Pro Vice Chancellor (Research) and executive team to provide support to the research goals and operations of the University. The position provides leadership in the management and delivery of high-quality research support, strategic advice, policy development, compliance and risk management within a client centric environment.
The successful candidate will preferably have postgraduate research-based qualifications and experience; sound knowledge of research, research management and research policy, and of the tertiary education sector generally. Proven collaborative leadership and management skills at both strategic and operational levels, including effective management of multi-disciplinary professional staff will be essential. A demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise judgement, and represent the University effectively should be coupled with an ability to develop and implement policy and procedures.
The position is based at the Nathan Campus and an attractive salary package is negotiable.
