Would you like to work in an institution where values of student experience, customer service, academic quality, value for money and continuous improvement are at the forefront of how we make our decisions?  Are you ready to place the student at the heart of all that you do?  If your answer is ‘yes’ then this role will be perfect for you.

A unique opportunity has arisen to join us in a brand new role of Assistant Director (Operations & Student Experience). You will have an overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the key areas of the University of Sunderland in London, such as Services for Students, Student Administration and Systems, Finance and H&S.

Using your skills and expertise, you will support the Director in leadership and management of the campus and you will play a vital role within the Senior Management Team in achieving the delivery of the best possible student outcomes and experience that is relevant to our institution and to our students. You will also collaborate with our colleagues in Sunderland, building strong relationships and ensuring our delivery is aligned with the overall strategy and direction of the University.

Overall, this job offers variety, lots of opportunities and strategic responsibilities. But most importantly, it is a job that gives you the opportunity to have a truly positive impact on our student’s journey through the services that you and your teams will provide.

You will find the requirements for this role in the attached Job Description, but to give you an idea of who we are looking for, please find a list of some of the essential criteria here:

  • Strong record of senior level leadership in a large, complex organisation relevant to the portfolio of the role.
  • Proven experience of leading and improving student experience strategically and tactically with tangible outcomes linked to added value and improved metrics.
  • Experience of working with non-traditional students and an understanding of what support they can require to succeed in higher education.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the higher education environment, nationally and internationally and the major challenges and influences to institutional success.

You will be joining a North East University in Canary Wharf in London that delivers four intakes per year and possesses the drive to grow, innovate and to constantly improve the student experience in a highly competitive and changing landscape.
