Role Overview:

The Architectural Association was founded in 1847, opening as a day school in 1901. The AA is committed to public benefit attained by the learning, teaching, discussion and promotion of architecture.  The School is recognised as a worldwide leader in architectural education, with graduates that include many of the world’s leading architects, scholars, critics and educators. The academic and professional programmes of study at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, up to and including doctoral level, are validated by external professional and academic bodies.

The role is to liaise with students and potential employers with the aim of facilitating placement, training and employment opportunities for AA students and particularly those at the end of Year 3 (final year) and 5 (graduate).  You will work closely with students during the academic year offering guidance and support on their next steps in practice. Many students have never experienced a studio/office environment before and so the role is of critical importance as you will be the focal point guiding them and matching aspirations with practice.  As well as this, the role will be expected to foster better and more meaningful relationships between the AA school and its worldwide network of graduates and to develop a mentorship programme for AA students and recent graduates.

Who We Seek:

We are seeking a dedicated Careers officer with understanding of the stages of architectural education and the skills, knowledge and attributes attained by students prior to entering practice. You must have experience of being in a position offering guidance and support to graduate and post graduate students as to the next stages of their career.
