Established in 1828, the University of Central Lancashire is a leading modern University located in the city of Preston. The School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences is part of the Faculty of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, which also includes Medicine and Dentistry. The School offers several undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare related degrees including the Master of Pharmacy and accredited BSc Biomedical Sciences. The School offers a friendly and supportive learning environment with state of the art teaching and research facilities.
We are seeking to appoint a two Lecturers in Physiology and Pharmacology who will help lead teaching provision within the School. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team and make a significant contribution to the leadership of teaching, learning, assessment, research and income generation.
The motivated and enthusiastic applicant will hold a BSc and PhD in a Biomedical Sciences or related area and have experience of teaching in higher education. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver undergraduate level physiology and pharmacology material, structured around the major body systems (cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal, renal, nervous system). We are particularly interested in applicants with a background in genetics and personalised medicine. Sound knowledgeability & the ability to teach biosciences is essential as is research experience in this area.
Excellent communication skills, involvement in delivery and co-ordinating teaching and the ability to work in a team are essential for this position.
Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston. Work patterns may mean that weekend work is sometimes required.
