The School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work on Spatial big data analysis and application research on resources and environment management auxiliary decision-making platform (SPOC-APP) project in researching of occupancy demand analysis, implementing statistically learning on energy usage in the city, prediction on the occupancy of buildings in the city and assessment of CO2 emission based on energy usage. SPOC-APP project is funded by Innovate UK and is in collaboration with industrial and academic partners between UK and Guangdong, China,
Applicants will have an Undergraduate Degree or Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Electric/Electronic Engineering or a related topic, and are expected to demonstrate good knowledge and experience in applying statistical analysis or machine learning/Artificial Intelligent and prediction algorithms in IoT systems and smart buildings. A proven track record in conducting high quality research (as evidenced by publications in peer reviewed journals) and in-depth knowledge of the research field are highly desirable. The ability to organize working time, take the initiative, and carry out research independently, under the guidance of the PI is an essential criteria for this post. Applicants with a PhD (already obtained or shortly to be awarded) or equivalent knowledge in Electronic Engineering and/or Computer Science or related discipline are also encouraged to apply.
The post is full time, fixed term appointment for 12 months or until 30 September 2020 (Whichever is the shorter), with an expected start date of 1 October 2019. Starting salary will be in the range of £31,054 - £33,615 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
