The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Portfolio  is responsible for enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, the student experience, internationalisation, indigenous eduction and employability outcomes. La Trobe International (LTI) is situated within the portfolio and works in partnership with La Trobe’s Divisions, Colleges and Schools to design, promote and deliver diversity in the choice of global mobility experiences at La Trobe for both inbound (study abroad and exchange) and outbound students.

We now have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Manager, La Trobe Abroad to lead and support the implementation of the student mobility strategy within the context of La Trobe University’s Strategic and Globalisation plans. Your main responsibilities will be focused around leading and providing expert advice and support on the International Student Exchange portfolio and fee paying study abroad recruitment functions. Close collaboration with other central units and Colleges to successfully develop and maintain partnerships with overseas institutions, study abroad agents and third party providers which build the University’s brand and positioning in overseas markets, and attract fee-paying and non fee-paying international students to the University will be an important part of this role.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position you will have a relevant qualification and experience in management, preferably within the higher education sector.  Your understanding of the challenges and opportunities within student mobility and a comprehensive knowledge of the ESOS Act and National Code is essential. You will have demonstrated experience in the successful coordination and implementation of strategic projects including planning, communication, implementation, negotiation, controlling budgets/resources/funding, evaluation and reporting.

In addition, you will have strong negotiation skills which will be demonstrated by your ability to influence and build relationships internally and externally.
