Leeds Arts University is now recognised as the only specialist arts university in the North of England. We have contributed significantly to the development of arts education for over 170 years, and have developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students and staff.

The BA (Hons) Animation course was introduced in September 2013 to run alongside the specialist BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Illustration degrees. This specialist course of study focuses on the role of applied animation in the contemporary creative industries and broader visual culture. The course has become a competitive choice for students who want to commit to an innovative course of study with a strong studio culture.

This role would suit a candidate who can demonstrate a high level of professional/commercial practice as an animator who has an interest in teaching in a specialist Higher Education environment. You will primarily teach level 4 & 5 students and support Module Leaders in the delivery of practice-based modules introducing the principles of animation, helping to develop 3D CG software skills in Autodesk Maya and/or practice skills in stop-motion skills. In addition, you will be required to provide studio support to animation students using a range of Adobe Creative Cloud software; Toon Boom Harmony, Storyboard Pro and TV Paint would be desirable.

Ideally you will have links with employers to facilitate work experience and where appropriate studio visits. Working generally and as a member of a team you will be expected to deliver teaching within a variety of settings including workshops, individual tutorials, seminars and lectures. The role will require a commitments of 2.5 days a week across the academic year.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in a relevant area; have knowledge and expertise as an industry professional and bring professional knowledge and contacts to this industry facing course. You will be expected to engage with the University’s research agenda.
