Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join our Pay , Reward & Systems Team. Working with the wider HR team, the Payroll Manager will be a subject matter expert in all aspects of pensions, Income Tax and NI, ensuring that the University keep up to date with any changes.

The role

The University currently has c1600 salaried employees and as the Payroll Manager, you will manage and develop a team of Payroll Assistants, ensuring that the team provide a professional, customer focussed, value-add service; that all payroll activities are processed accurately and meet deadlines whilst meeting any legislative requirements.

The team is going through an exciting period of change and as well as the development of new reward offerings, we are focused on developing innovative online solutions utilising our HR Information System to reduce transaction activities. 

Who we are looking for

Application must demonstrate the following: 

  • Degree or CIPP/IPPM equivalent qualification or extensive experience in a comparable role
  • Previous experience of payroll management in a medium to large organisation
  • Detailed knowledge of payroll systems, taxation and national insurance rules along with substantial experience of using electronic payroll systems
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong commitment to delivering solutions and improving processes 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and/or experience using iTrent 
  • Experience working in Higher Education sector

Salary: GBP 32,236 - GBP 38,460 per annum (Grade 5)

This position will close on 27th August, with initial interview taking place on 9th & 10th September.
