Applications are invited for an experienced or aspiring academic to join the committed Initial Teacher Education team at Northumbria University. Working within the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing, you will work across a number of programmes within Initial Teacher Education. You will contribute to all aspects of professional studies relating to the academic development of students and the Teachers’ Standards, as well as liaising with staff in partnership schools to support and quality assure the effective mentoring of students on placement.
You must be able to demonstrate knowledge of policies, current research and effective evidence informed practice relating to teaching and learning across the primary age phases. You will have subject specific expertise in the teaching of English across the primary curriculum and have the ability to model effective and engaging English teaching to our students.
You will have Qualified Teacher Status, and must either be doctorally qualified or near completion of your doctoral studies, in an area related to education.

Working in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing, you will be a member of a vibrant academic community that is multi-disciplinary, with social justice at the heart of what we do. You will work flexibly as part of a team, to contribute to teaching, research, enterprise and engagement. Your role may involve Programme Leadership within the department, and teaching in the area of initial teacher education, and you may be required to undertake teaching and leadership roles across the department.
