The School of Science has a strong track record of excellence in teaching and research in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Conservation Biology, Ecological and Biological Sciences, Environmental Management and Sustainability. We offer a choice of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and have active research programs across all disciplines. Based at the Joondalup campus of ECU, the School of Science aims to maintain a high level of teaching and research achievements through recruitment of new staff.

The Role

The School is looking for an academic who has an exceptional early career track record in teaching and research in applied statistics and/or mathematics. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in applied statistics and geostatistics. The successful applicant will be expected to teach applied statistics and basic mathematics to a diverse range of students, and contribute to the development of undergraduate and postgraduate statistics curriculum.

We welcome applications from candidates who have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and engage with industry, government and non-government sectors.

The successful candidate will be expected to pursue independent research and supervise postgraduate students, develop and deliver teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and undertake leadership and administrative duties in teaching or other university activities commensurate with the level of the appointment.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have a PhD and experience in teaching and research. A research track record in applied statistics or applied mathematics as evidenced by publications is essential, while grants and experience in the supervision of postgraduate students are desirable. A demonstrated ability to work with others, and in teams, is also required.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full-time, 3 year fixed term position attracts remuneration of $99,043 to $117,312 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
