About the role

The La Trobe Animal Research and Training Facility (LARTF) provides state of the art facilities and technical assistance to facilitate and support the diverse range of research and teaching activities involving the use of animals at the University. LARTF is responsible for the care, husbandry, colony management, welfare and health monitoring of animals held within LARTF facilities.

The positions of Material Support Technician within the LARTF provide a range of activities which support in the maintenance of a clean and hygienic environment, provision of essential supplies to work areas, inventory management and movement of materials and animals within and between facilities. The duties and responsibilities may vary according to operational need and as animal species, number and the type of research being supported within the facility changes over time.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position you will bring a flexible and adaptable approach to your work. You will have good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful applicant will be able to prioritise within a fast-paced environment. A valid Victorian Driver’s licence and forklift licence (or willingness to obtain) is essential.
