Position Focus:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Salesforce Development and Platform Services as a part of the Community Engagement for Yale’s Information Technology Services, the Senior Salesforce Administrator plans, develops, oversees, monitors, and administers technical and functional activities related to Salesforce applications. Solutions may include any or all Salesforce products such as Marketing Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Communities.

The Senior Salesforce Administrator will work closely with functional units to identify practical and scalable solutions, drawing from an extensive knowledge of process mapping, design and requirements documentation. This role coordinates the evaluation and implementation of Salesforce and related technologies to solve the business need.•Leads the effort to evaluate departmental business and administrative processes and needs. Identifies, defines, and analyzes system requirements to meet the expectations of stakeholders and intended end users needs, scheduled timeline, and budgetary targets.

  • Conducts process analysis and whiteboarding sessions to gain a deep understanding of a client’s business process. Often informs client on new or alternate approaches to streamline their business process.
  • Defines and contributes to the design of new/existing applications and interfaces. Provides business solutions analysis. Performs complex problem solving.
  • Evaluates requests for new or modified applications to determine feasibility, cost and time required and compatibility with current systems and develops proposals to deliver desired solutions.
  • Responsible for requirements prioritization and solution risk analysis.
  • Develops and delivers quality analysis, reporting and presentation materials.
  • Contributes to guidelines, best practices, and standards relative to delivery, configuration, and support of the Salesforce platform. Provides technical and analytical expertise in configuring and developing applications or systems of moderate to large size.
  • Collaborates with Salesforce platform team colleagues and other ITS staff to prototype proposed new applications and functions.
  • Provides escalated level of troubleshooting and complex problem solving related to Salesforce solutions to ITS colleagues.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties

  1. Develops the initial project charter and clarification of the project scope, requirements, measurable outcomes, and project deliverables.
  2. Works with respective process owners and using the business analytics, prepares the associated business case. Documents the “as is” and “to be” business processes using standard process modeling tools and process improvement methodologies.
  3. Conducts thorough business case and external customer value analysis to determine selection, prioritization positioning and approach for broadest range of potential solutions (e.g., outsourcing, process improvements, and technology solutions).
  4. Communicates compelling and concise analysis to enable business owners to make well informed decisions regarding options for problem resolution and opportunity realization. Reviews system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested system change is possible within existing system and is within the scope of the current project definition.
  5. Gathers, compiles, and produces relevant business analytics on departmental performances including production of Performance Metrics and opinions/suggestions for improvement opportunities.
  6. Develops and delivers quality analysis, reporting and presentation materials.
  7. Responsible for requirements prioritization and solution risk analysis
  8. Fully integrates baseline and metrics tracking into initiative planning and execution for optimal results.
  9. Designs, plans, communicates and executes the departmental readiness plan.
  10. Oversees, develops, facilitates and delivers training plans.
  11. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in business, technology or related field and six years of related work experience in analysis of business needs and development of related business systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Proven strong contributor and analytical thinker with excellent verbal/written communication skills and high motivation to learn new technologies in a collaborative environment. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Proven ability to lead and facilitate business process mapping sessions. In addition, ability to document business processes, both “as is” and “to be”, using standard modeling tools.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Strong knowledge of the full software/application development cycle, particularly in an iterative environment: process analysis, process design, configuration, testing, release, maintenance and the ability to document requirements. Proven ability configuring and developing SaaS/PaaS solutions. Solid expertise with relational databases.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Interested in creating a culture around data, collaboration and creativity while rapidly learning new cloud-based technologies.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
  2. 6+ years related experience in business architecture, process analysis and configuration of medium-to-large applications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Familiarity with Salesforce applications.
  4. Proven ability to provide support through troubleshooting, enhancements and best practices development.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:

Salesforce Administrator (ADM 201 or ADM 301) or equivalent knowledge/experience.
