Passionate about what we do, proud to be different and ready to empower our staff and students – York St John University is ambitious about our future.

The speed of change and the scale of innovation in the 21st century is remarkable. Our students today will be pioneers in a world we don’t yet fully understand. After 178 years of educating people from all walks of life, we know that preparing students for this uncertain future is our greatest responsibility, biggest challenge, and most amazing opportunity.

As we invest in our future, we continue to re-evaluate our use of technology and our digital infrastructure. Within Registry, we are currently working to deliver an ambitious improvement programme for our student records system (SITS) in support of the University’s 2026 Strategy. The student record system powers our student administrative processes from enquiry and application through to graduation. It is the focus of information about our students and their qualifications. It sits at the heart of all that we do in Registry to support our students and staff.

We are seeking somebody with an enquiring mind, an aptitude for solving problems, and the agility to adapt and learn fast to join our established team. You will play a full and active role in the support, development, management and maintenance of SITS, ensuring that it continues to meet the University’s strategic priorities.

You will provide technical support for all SITS and e:Vision users, troubleshooting problems and liaising with the software supplier (Tribal) where required. Ideally, you will have some experience of providing systems support to users, preferably within the higher education sector.

You will be involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle, identifying and realising projects to improve the administrative processes that support the student learning journey. With a proactive attitude and excellent verbal and written communication skills, you’ll have responsibility for allocated projects, but also work as an integral member of our team.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • excellent communication skills
  • the ability to work methodically with close attention to detail
  • a proactive approach to process improvement
  • systems support or development experience
  • knowledge of SQL, HTML, SITS syntax, JavaScript or other web development language
  • knowledge of university administration and business processes
