RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Sociotechnical Systems Research Center-Connection Science (CXSci), to lead a team of graduate students and postdocs and have significant autonomy in research.  Will work together with the director and executive director on the development, planning, and coordination of CXSci projects.  Will also contribute to determining the feasibility of research goals and objectives involving both theoretical studies and initial practical testing of data properties; generate, submit, and have research-oriented papers published; conduct data analysis and modeling research; create and engineer the data analysis/visualization platforms; collaborate on extending technical capabilities and identifying new research opportunities; participate in research grant writing and initiate broad interdisciplinary research themes; collaborate with other top researchers in the field; participate in both academic- and practitioner-oriented conferences, symposia, and meetings; engage with external institutions, Media Lab members, and the wider community to support research and other group’s strategic objectives; strengthen, initiate, and develop links with internal and/or external contacts at academic/industry institutions related to the project; provide expert opinion and commentary to external audience sand organizations; and perform other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a minimum of a Ph.D. in physics or data science; experience with big data and networks; excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to consolidate feedback from multiple sources into a cohesive single output document and to create and share deliverable instructions in a clear and concise manner; self-motivation; strong organizational skills; attention to detail; and good judgment, tact, and discretion with confidential information.  Job #17839
