Position Focus:

The Senior Marketing and Communications Manager for Yale Hospitality will report to the Senior Director of Residential Dining. This position will provide support and leadership for all aspects of development of concepts and initiatives focused on enhancing nontraditional revenue, information management, content development, marketing and communication strategy for Yale Hospitality.

Working with the Operational Directors and the Director of Business Administration of Yale Hospitality, this position will promote Yale Hospitality business marketing goals into tangible marketing programs in a fiscally responsible manner.

Essential Duties

STRATEGY & ANALYSIS 1. Supports the achievement of financial benchmarks by assisting in the development of programs, products and services, by attracting non-traditional customers to our business venues and by increasing brand loyalty within the Yale Hospitality customer base. 2. Strengthens Yale Hospitality brand recognition within the University, regionally and nationally. 3. From conceptualization to implementation, helps develop and drive Yale Hospitality marketing and communication campaigns across all media vehicles including print, mail, email, website, and PR. 4. Interfaces directly with the Senior Leadership team in Yale Hospitality translating Yale Hospitality business objectives into tangible marketing and communication campaigns. Provides strategic marketing guidance, including design expertise, to Yale Hospitality Directors of Operations and unit managers. 5. Promotes goodwill toward Yale Hospitality. 6. Develops, implements and analyzes customer satisfaction measurement processes. 7. Proposes business strategies to improve customer satisfaction. 8. Enhances the Yale Hospitality management team’s understanding of overall marketing. 9. Promotes local store marketing effectiveness. 10. Produces and distributes high quality deliverables and collateral. 11. Identifies campus and trade market conditions and customer demographics as they relate to Yale Hospitality business objectives. Executes customer research plans that include paper, email and web-based customer surveys, advisory groups, focus groups and online research. 12. Interfaces with Yale Hospitality unit managers, executing branding, marketing and communications programs – both department wide and unit specific. 13. With Directors of the Senior Leadership team, develop core marketing themes and messages for Yale Hospitality, dining units and specific products and programs. 14. Defines measurable goals for success based on Yale Hospitality and SLT business objectives. 15. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, manages all design-based projects including development, production and distribution of promotional materials to all Yale Hospitality units. 16. Manages library of turn-key marketing, communication and event programs. COMMUNICATIONS 17. Develops, implements, and maintains effective Yale Hospitality messages, strategies and programs. 18. Ensures consistent communication of Yale Hospitality key messages and coordinate with University Office of Public Affairs key messages. 19. Writes Yale Hospitality press releases. Distributes, actively pitch and drives relationships to campus, trade and community media outlets. 20. Develops and maintains marketing communication materials and tools for Yale Hospitality. 21. Communicates with Yale Daily News and all other campus print and online publications. 22. Maintains relationships with university departments, trade and media organizations. 23. Manages creation, content development and maintenance of website. 24. Archives Yale Hospitality operational history, releases, and press hits. 25. Researches and purchases promotional items as needed in a fiscally responsible manner. 26. Coordinates and executes internal communication tools. 27. Provides support and coordination for student, faculty advisory committee, focus groups, and survey methodology for all Yale Hospitality business platforms. 28. Hire and train student assistants 29. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Four-year college degree or equivalent. 5 years marketing experience required.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment. Ability to communicate in a professional manner. Writing sample will be required during interview.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Highly creative and innovative. Knowledge of and/or demonstrated ability with graphic design.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Demonstrated expert knowledge of Microsoft Office suite especially Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Knowledge of systems such as FileMaker Pro, Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Proven ability with Business and PR writing skills.
