The Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Stanford Graduate School of Business is seeking a Research Analyst (RA) for the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative (SLEI).  The Research Analyst will design and conduct research to provide new insights and understandings about the ecosystem of U.S. Latino business owners. The research is designed to expand knowledge of this growing segment of our economy, with the potential to generate insights that could guide and encourage entrepreneurs, policy makers, and non-profits in support of the growth and health of Latino-owned U.S. companies

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Partner with principal investigators to design and conduct research to expand knowledge about U.S. Latino entrepreneurs, and produce reports highlighting key conclusions and findings. This research will include the SLEI’s annual survey of 5,000+ Latino entrepreneurs.
  • Ensure the research is conducted with extremely high quality.
  • Serve as a spokesperson to communicate the results of SLEI research to the academic community, business community, and the press.
  • Conduct professional research presentations.
  • Partner with a non-profit that jointly collaborates on SLEI research
  • Become a liaison with the Latino business community to encourage survey participation.
  • May supervise and train less experienced colleagues.
  • May provide perspectives on how research finding could be used to inform public programs and policies.
  • Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.
  • Remain well informed on market trends, other current research, and implement best practices.
  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Graduate degree in an applicable social science related field and five years of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant experience in an applicable social science.  PhD preferred.
  • Expert level knowledge and skills in field of social science related to research project.
  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with human study participants.

In addition, our preferred requirements include:

  • Strong experience and understanding of social science research methods, including data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys, etc.).
  •  Excellent experience and skills conducting quantitative research using at least one statistical computing environment, such STATA or R.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, particularly the U.S. Latinx community.
  • Fluent command of written and spoken Spanish
  •  Excellent English written and spoken communication skills, including strong writing abilities, with capability to independently author reports for both academic and consumer consumption.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases, survey tools (Qualtrics), and a programming language.
  • Acumen using search engines, web analytics and business research tools.  
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing, modeling and mining.
