This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science, a large School with approximately 70 academic staff and 45 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1000 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 220 PhD students. Circa 40 administrative and technical staff support the staff and students. The staff and student body are international in make-up.

About the role
The School of Engineering and Materials Science is seeking to recruit to the post of Student Support Officer. The post holder will be a key member of the newly created Student Experience and Admissions Team which proactively informs, engages and supports students throughout their student journey from pre-application to alumni.
The post holder will provide professional support for all taught students in the School, and to provide administrative support for the implementation of the School’s student engagement, retention and success strategies.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to student support, preferably gained within a higher education institution or related body. They will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience and will have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

The post is a full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with a starting salary of £33,615 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
