Bristol Medical School in the Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to work on a 2.5 year National Institute for Health Research grant which aims to secure the evidence base for the treatment of domestic violence perpetrators.

The primary role of the successful candidate will be to work within work stream II of the wider programme conducting a randomised controlled trial of a 6-month group community programme for male perpetrators of domestic violence.

The post-holder will mainly be responsible for contributing to the assessment and recruitment of male participants (domestic abuse perpetrators) into a randomised controlled trial, and on following the participants up for questionnaire completion. You may also be involved in recruiting female participants (domestic abuse victims/survivors), and in collecting their follow-up data. You will also be assisting with the managing and analysing of data; liaising with a range of patient and professional advisory groups; working alongside others within the programme as a whole; and contributing towards the production of project reports and academic papers.

The successful candidate will have an understanding or experience of conducting research in the area of gendered violence or health trials and of working within a multi-agency context within which health is represented. You will have an understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence as they relate to male perpetrators of abuse and female survivors/victims.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable IT, communication, organisational, and collaborative working skills. The post will be Bristol based, but the post-holder will also need to be willing and able to travel, particularly to the four trial sites (in Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset, Wales) where necessary for recruitment and for team meetings.
