Technical Specialist (Audio Visual) & AV Team Lead 

Salary range: £33,199-£39,609
Contract type: Permanent
Working arrangements: Full Time (35 hours p/w)

Durham University is seeking a technically competent and knowledgeable AV team lead to sustain and develop our outstanding IT estate. You will lead an experienced and effective team, providing specialist leadership in Audio Visual technologies. You will have experience of supporting complex, integrated technologies and preferably with skills in converged AV/IT solutions. You will have a good understanding of building refurbishment and construction projects and their transition into service.  

As AV Team Lead you will be a motivated and technically skilled individual, leading a core part of the Operations team within Computing and Information Services. You will have operational responsibility for the University’s Audio Visual estate, supporting a growing number of rooms as new buildings are delivered within the strategy for 2017-2027. You will be integral to supporting the needs of the modern institution.  

The successful applicant will join a highly competent broader team delivering outstanding user facing services. As a pivotal part of the operations team the role holder will be responsible for the management and development of managed service support contracts with the University’s partner suppliers.

You will be charged with ensuring the delivery of services to the broader University, including services consumed by both staff and students undertaking world-class teaching, learning and research. As a Technical Specialist you will be expected to support, development and maintain current services and develop new, more agile ways of working.  

Day to day activities will include the coordination of the support and maintenance of the University Audio Visual estate, including projects to deliver a rolling programme of continual service improvement, covering staff and students. You will work with subject matter experts across our IT function and the Estates and Buildings department, professional support services more broadly and academic departments. 

Engaging with colleagues you will establish and develop effective partner relationships to ensure successful configuration and operation of services.  

This role will require a high degree of technical knowledge in relation to audio-visual technologies and additionally understanding of wired and wireless networking is desirable. The role holder will ideally have a strong background in customer service delivery and the ability to convert complex user requirements into technical delivery.
