About the role

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Industry Engagement) Portfolio provides strategic direction and support for research and research performance at La Trobe University.

We now have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Senior Human Ethics Advisor in the Research Office. Your main responsibilities will be focused around providing expert advice and guidance in Human Ethics and relevant research policy to key research stakeholders including the University Human Ethics Committees and senior management. A thorough knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidelines around human subjects in research, including clinical research is essential. Working within the Ethics, Integrity and Biosafety Team, you will have a broader knowledge of other areas of ethics and biosafety and be pro-active in the promotion of research integrity across the University.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this position you will bring extensive experience and relevant qualifications in human ethics and integrity. Advanced knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements for human research ethics is essential. Furthermore, you will have experience in liaising with internal and external agencies with regards to reporting, monitoring and auditing requirements. High level written and verbal communication skills including  the ability to investigate, and report breaches of responsible research conduct is required.
