  • Salary Package: Lecturer (Level B) from $103,914 to $122,947 per annum or Senior Lecturer (Level C) from $126,879 to $145,912 per annum, plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Appointment Type: The position will be available from early January 2020 on a full-time, continuing basis.

The Role

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is looking to appoint an outstanding statistician. You will conduct international quality research in an area of statistics and contribute excellent teaching to our vibrant undergraduate and postgraduate statistics courses.

Essential criteria for appointment at Lecturer (Level B):

  • PhD or equivalent in an area of Statistics
  • Demonstrated research ability that supports the Department's research interests in statistics
  • A strong record of research achievements as evidenced by high quality publications
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate students
  • The potential to attract research students and competitive research funding
  • Capacity to teach across a wide range of courses similar to those offered by the Department
  • Ability to contribute to a collegial environment in furthering the goals of the Department
  • The potential to act as an advocate for the Department both within the University and also to external groups
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Essential Criteria for appointment at Senior Lecturer (Level C):

  • PhD or equivalent in an area of Statistics
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake outstanding research in an area that supports the Department's research interests in statistics
  • A strong record of world class research achievements as evidenced by high quality publications
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research grant support from external funding agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise graduate students and mentor research students and early career researchers
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across a wide range of courses similar to those offered by the Department
  • Ability to contribute to a collegial environment in furthering the goals of the Department
  • Ability to act as an advocate for the Department both within the University and also to external groups
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable criteria for appointment at both levels (Level B and C).

  • Potential to generate collaboration and funding from industry
  • Substantial experience of lecturing large classes and service classes
  • A genuine commitment to the development and delivery of innovative teaching of statistics
