Role Description

We are investing to further strengthen our nationally leading activities in research for the circular economy with a new post in data analytics. This role will involve engaging in both research and education in this fast moving field, developing a distinctive research profile and collaborating with our growing community of scholars and solution delivery partners from government, commerce, and society. Using data analytics, big data, and machine learning, you will develop insights and innovative tools and techniques to underpin circular economy solutions and enhance the value of recovered, reused, and recycled materials and artefacts.

You will be joining a dynamic and creative team in the Centre for Creative Competitive Design which has been named by Business Week as one of the 'World's Best Design Schools', with a growing reputation for collaborative design-driven innovation. Your research and teaching activities will inform and enthuse a new generation of specialists and help turn the promise of a circular economy into a reality.

We believe in socially responsible development through the use of design to deliver economic growth and social improvement. We are looking for creative like-minded people to join our team. We offer you the opportunity and resources to excel and further your career in a supportive, highly collaborative and internationally facing environment. As a university with a strong global outlook, we are committed to building and enhancing our relationships with our partners in Europe and beyond.

You do not necessarily have to currently be in an academic position, but you will have a PhD in data analytics, or a relevant topic (or equivalent), with experience of conducting high impact, excellent research evidenced through publications in high quality, peer reviewed journals. You should also be able to evidence that you are able to secure funding to support your research activities.

If you have the ambition to build your own reputation through research, a growing publication record, a great student teaching approach, and the ability to conduct high impact research then we’d like to hear from you.

At Cranfield, we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential. We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role.
