City of Glasgow College

This is a truly exciting time to join City of Glasgow College, one of the biggest and most ambitious tertiary Colleges in the UK. It’s innovative approaches to teaching and learning enables personalised development for some 27,000 students across a range of over 2,000 courses, from Access Level to Degree, with 73% of its students studying Higher Education programmes.

Formed through a merger of three predecessor institutions in 2010, City of Glasgow has transformed the delivery of college education in terms of physical estate, performance levels and reach. The quality of learning and teaching is sector-leading, with the twin site super campus development at Glasgow Riverside heralding a new era.

Top in the UK for WorldSkills and composite overall number one in the Scottish sector for success in student attainment in Further and Higher Education, City of Glasgow College’s purpose is to ‘Let Learning Flourish’.

Reporting to the Depute Principal, and supporting the Vice Principal Student Experience and Faculty Deans, the Associate Director: Centre for Professional and Technical Education (COPTE) will lead and manage the development of the COPTE, promoting an industry-focused tertiary education model. As the College prepares to apply for taught Degree Awarding Powers, COPTE will have a vital role to play in developing the College’s culture and spearheading our staff development in pedagogy and scholarly activity. You will also assist in the development and implementation of the Student Experience strategy, working with the Senior Management Team in achieving the College’s vision of excellence through the development and implementation of the College’s strategic Plans, mission, vision, values and behaviours.

The successful candidate will lead a culture of digital learning and increasing digital literacies in staff and student learning and teaching activities, and be responsible for the overall management of budget and resources for the Centre, including recruitment, mentoring and appraisal of staff within the Centre, to develop a high-performing team.

You will work in partnership with the Head of Organisational Development to grow and manage a CPD and digital learning strategy that provides educators with the appropriate skills and experience to engage and inspire students including initial and career-long CPD opportunities.
